Keep moss away from window in spring and summer in particular. A weaker light is best. Windowsill not recommended. If LED light then 8 hours of light a day is ok.
Moss thrive outdoors even in winter and doesn’t like high temperature and may die off if the room is above 30C-move to cold place (even a fridge) and it will recover.
Recommend cultivated moss, if using wild moss there could be problems with insects etc, best to clean the moss, remove debris before planting.
Also fungi may grow…remove quickly as the spores will spread.
For most moss that are grown in a closed container it is best to ventilate for about 5 minutes per day to change the air.
Will need to think about fertiliser, the moss will let you know when it needs feeding as it will take on a lighter colour but feed twice a year.
Pruning. Remove brown parts early with scissors. If left it will go mouldy.
Grown in closed container water every 2-3 weeks by spraying the entire moss which absorbs water through its leaves. If overwatered then mould may develop.
